PHOTOGRAPHING MOVIES, MY LOVE MY NIGHTMARE

I'm shooting a feature film for my friend Mr. Jon Szwajkowski. It is very low budget. One location. Small crew. Practical lighting. And we're shooting on a DSLR.

Sometimes when I see photographs of real film sets I get jealous of their fancy cameras and say to myself, that's why my movies don't look as good!

But then I see pictures like this one of Stanley Kubrick (possibly the greatest image maker in the history of film).

And I feel like this...

I always hear, it isn't the camera, it's the photographer. I suppose I should just make do with what I have.
